We are excited to announce that our pilot study is now in the data collection stage with the first focus group discussion completed today and a further four interview sessions scheduled for next week. The pilot study will give us insights into how the VR scenario is received and responded to by educators, and how this component can be effectively integrated into an anti-bias training. Participants in the pilot study will complete two online surveys (approx. 10 minutes each), view the VR scenario, and discuss their experience of this viewing either as an individual or in a group. This is a unique opportunity to engage with a never seen before and newly developed VR scenario that takes the viewer through the ‘day in the life’ of Te Rangitīhore – a young Māori intermediate school student who loves playing basketball and hangs out with his mate Hohepa. We would like to extend a special invitation to high school teachers in Tāmaki Makaurau to participate in this study, though all educators in Auckland are welcome.
